I’m a sixth-generation Kane County resident, born and raised in Batavia.
My father was the Mayor of Batavia for a time, so my passion for serving began at a young age.
Dave & Marge Brown
I grew up in Batavia and graduated from Batavia High School, and during those years, I worked with my uncle and grandfather on their family farms and continue to help at harvest time whenever possible.
I have been married to the love of my life, Marge, for 32 years, who is a retired elementary school teacher. We have five children, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
I have been in the heavy construction industry for 48 years, 43 of them as a member of Local 150 International union of operating engineers. I’m currently the vice president of a commercial concrete construction company and vice president of the Concrete Contractors Association of Greater Chicagoland.
I served on the Batavia City Council as Alderman of the 7th ward for 22 years from 1997 to 2019. While on the council, I was part of the Public Utility, Community Development and Government Services committees. I served as Mayor Pro Tem from 2013 to 2019, Chairman of Community Development for 6 years, and Chairman of the Committee of the Whole for five years from 2015-2019.
While on the Batavia City Council, I was a strong advocate to lower or maintain one of the lowest municipal tax rates in the area by working closely with our finance department, staff, and fellow council members. We consistently created annual budgets that addressed all essential needs and provided for future success of our community while at the same time kept the property tax rate one of the lowest in the Fox Valley.
